This on-campus interview experience for a Trainee Software Engineer role at HSBC India involved four rounds.
Round 1: Online Assessments (AON Platform)
This round was split into two parts:
Round 2: Values Assessment Test
Candidates were enrolled in the HSBC Careers Portal to take this test, which evaluated their alignment with the core values and principles of the organization.
Round 3: Technical Round
The interview began with an introduction and thorough resume review. The technical discussion focused on Machine Learning, with questions to assess foundational understanding. The interviewer then inquired about projects and internships, emphasizing challenges encountered during implementation. The conversation shifted to SQL, covering topics like "why do we need SQL?", Joins, Triggers, connecting MySQL DB using Java/Python, and cursors. Since the candidate chose Python as their preferred language, specific questions related to it were asked. Cloud experience was also a topic of discussion.
Round 4: HR Round
The HR round started with a brief introduction. Key questions included "Why HSBC?", potential interest in a team leader role, overall experience and preferences (skills, technologies), student life and college experiences, and location preferences. The candidate was also asked about their tech stack.
