This candidate, a final year undergrad from IIT (BHU) pursuing Pharmaceutical Engg. & Tech., secured an SDE offer from HiLabs during campus placements. The process involved three rounds.
Round 1: Online Coding Test (Nov 2, 2022)
The test comprised 10 MCQs covering Operating Systems, OOPs, DBMS, and C++. It also included two DSA questions of medium-hard difficulty. One problem (20 points) involved math, while the other (50 points) was based on graphs. The candidate answered 7 MCQs and the first DSA problem.
Round 2: Technical Interview 1 (Dec 1, 2022)
The interview started with an introduction and a discussion about the candidate's academic courses. It then moved to a DSA problem based on 1-D Dynamic Programming. After a satisfactory approach, a second problem based on 2-D Dynamic Programming was given. The candidate started with a recursive approach and moved to an optimized dynamic programming solution, with further questions on recursive calls and distinct solutions. The interview also included SQL questions (group by, joins, an easy-level query) and a puzzle (Blind Man and Pills).
Round 3: Technical Interview 2 (Dec 1, 2022)
This round focused on the candidate's resume and technical expertise. Discussions began on React-Redux, which was used in their internship project. The interview also included two medium-difficulty SQL questions, with one requiring the creation of temporary tables. Questions on backend development, such as 'cookies' and 'Remember me' features, were also asked. The interviewers were described as friendly and helpful, providing guidance when needed.
