The recruitment process for the Data Scientist role at HiLabs involved an online test followed by interview rounds.
The **Online Test** consisted of MCQs on Machine Learning, Statistics, and Aptitude. It also included two coding questions, one involving dynamic programming and the other a greedy algorithm. The candidate attempted all MCQs and 1.5 coding questions.
The interview process typically has three rounds: ML Technical, Coding Technical, and HR. However, the candidate only went through the first two technical rounds.
Interview Round 1: ML Technical
Questions were mainly focused on the projects and internships mentioned in the candidate's resume. Specific algorithms discussed included K-NN, K-Means Clustering, Deep Learning, ANN, and Random Forest. Statistics concepts were also covered.
Interview Round 2: Coding Technical
This round started with a few GeeksforGeeks puzzles, such as a gold puzzle and a Monte Carlo simulation. Following the puzzles, two LeetCode "level three" coding questions were asked: one on a variable sliding window and another on a dynamic programming string problem.
The candidate was selected after the second round itself, without needing to go through the HR round.
Tips from the candidate include being very proficient with deep learning, having good practice in DSA (LeetCode medium level), and thinking out of the box for problem-solving skills.
