HSBC conducted interview rounds at the candidate's college in October 2023, consisting of five rounds: three online assessments, a technical interview, and an HR interview.
Online Assessments (3 rounds): These initial online assessments were described as very simple. The coding questions were not as difficult as anticipated, leading to 100 students being selected for the interview stage.
Technical Interview: The interview began with an introduction. The candidate was asked to write code for the Fibonacci sequence, which was completed efficiently. A brief discussion on sorting algorithms followed. Two SQL queries were given and successfully executed. Questions on Operating Systems (what is OS and its uses), Data Structures and Algorithms (stack and queue), and DBMS (how to choose primary and foreign keys for tables) were asked. The candidate was among those selected for the HR round.
HR Interview: The candidate felt anxious during this round. The interviewer asked them to discuss a project. The interviewer expected a comprehensive explanation of the project, but the candidate only mentioned the highlights, which did not satisfy the interviewer. Some basic HR questions were asked. Ultimately, the candidate received a rejection. It was also noted that the interviewer discussed a second project (E-commerce App UI in Flutter), asking why Flutter was chosen over Java and requesting code for displaying products on the home page in Flutter.
