Experience:

The interview process for the SDE-1 role at HSBC included an Aptitude Test, Coding Assessment, Value-based Assessment, Technical Interview, and HR Interview.

Round 1 (Aptitude Test): This round lasted 75 minutes and comprised three sections. The Aptitude section (20 questions) covered topics like Ratio and proportion, Speed and Distance, Percentage, and Profit and Loss, with an easy-medium difficulty. The Verbal section (20 questions) included error correction, synonyms, antonyms, and comprehension passages, also at an easy-medium difficulty. The Technical Subjects section (30 questions) focused on DBMS, Operating System, Computer Network, output-based questions, and OOPs concepts, with an easy-medium difficulty.

Coding Assessment: After the Aptitude test, shortlisted students proceeded to a 30-minute coding assessment with two questions. The difficulty level was easy-medium, and candidates were encouraged to attempt both questions to increase their chances of selection.

Round 2 (Value-based Assessment): This round followed Round 1 and involved scenario-based questions where students had to choose the most appropriate options.

Round 3 (Technical Interview): This 30-minute interview began with a self-introduction. The interviewer asked about the candidate's preferred coding language (C++ was mentioned). The candidate was asked to open an IDE and share their screen to implement and reverse a linked list. Basic OOPs questions, primarily definitions, were also asked. Although not asked of this specific candidate, it was noted that many other students were asked questions from their projects and resume, emphasizing the importance of preparing these well.

Round 4 (HR Interview): This was a 15-minute HR interview for shortlisted students.
