Role: SDE Intern (AI/LLM)

College: Not Specified

Interview Date: October 2025

Interview Type: Internship

Result: Rejected

Difficulty: Medium

Rounds: 2 Technical Rounds

Topics Asked: Data Structures, Algorithms (LeetCode problems), AI/GenAI projects, Large Language Models (LLMs), System Design (puzzle-like problem).

Experience:

The candidate received an interview opportunity for an SDE intern role focused on AI/LLM through an employee referral. All interview rounds were scheduled for the same day.

Round 1, a 1-hour DSA round, focused on core data structures and algorithms. Two LeetCode easy-medium problems were asked: "Single Element in an Array" and "Container With Most Water." The candidate presented both brute-force and optimized solutions. A brief discussion on the candidate's projects followed.

Round 2, a 1-hour DSA + AI round, started with a deep discussion around the candidate's AI/GenAI projects and understanding of LLMs, primarily to gauge interest and knowledge in the field. The second half involved a design-style problem that was not a typical DSA question: "Form pairs (3 girls and 2 boys) based on certain priorities." The candidate had to write pseudocode and explain their reasoning.

An HR round was planned but was canceled just before it started, as the feedback from the technical rounds was not positive. The candidate believes their knowledge in AI/ML might not have been strong enough, affecting the feedback.
