This interview experience for a Software Engineering Specialist role at GE Digital (relevant to GE Vernova's digital focus) was part of a campus hiring drive.
Online Coding Test: The first stage was an online coding test on November 22, 2022, consisting of 3 questions. The candidate successfully solved them. Following this, 7 students were shortlisted for interviews.
Technical Round: Held face-to-face on campus, this round involved two interviewers. It began with an introduction and discussion of the candidate's technical interests. A significant portion involved a "resume grill," where interviewers questioned the candidate's mentioned skills, their application, and expertise levels. Projects and previous internships (including one at Intel) were explained in detail, followed by cross-questioning. Technical questions covered OOPs concepts such as function overloading and polymorphism.
Managerial Round: This round also started with a resume discussion, focusing again on projects and internships. However, the questions were more managerial, probing into team sizes, levels of responsibility taken in projects, and achievements like hackathons and coding competitions (what was built, problems solved, and individual contributions). A critical behavioral question was posed about choosing GE Digital over a potential Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) from the candidate's ongoing internship.
HR Round: The HR round reiterated questions about the candidate's ongoing internship and their preference for GE Digital. General questions about the candidate's self, interests, and the biggest challenges faced were asked, along with other typical behavioral questions. The candidate felt they answered most questions effectively.
The results were announced on December 20, 2022, and the candidate was selected along with three others, joining GE Digital in July 2023.
