This candidate, with 1 year 10 months of experience, interviewed for an SDE-1 role at Gameberry Labs in Bengaluru in March-April 2024.
Round 1: DSA Focussed
Two coding questions were asked: "Next Greater Element in an array" (solved using stack) and "Maximal Square" (LeetCode problem). Both were solved within time.
Round 2: DSA Focussed
After 10 days, the candidate moved to this round, which also focused on DSA. Three questions were asked: "Minimum queue problem" (implementing push, pop, and find minimum in a stream of data, solved using deque and queue), "Minimum Capacity of Ship packages within D days" (LeetCode problem, solved using binary search), and "Calculate pow(x,n) in less than O(n)" (solved in log n). All questions were solved.
Round 3: Experience and System Design Round
This round was with an Engineering Manager. The discussion covered current and previous projects. Then, a Low-Level Design (LLD) problem to design a Parking Lot was given. The candidate mentioned missing some points and going with a wrong design.
Round 4: Behavioural and Cultural Fit
Scenario-based questions were asked, such as conflict with teammates, critical manager feedback, not meeting deadlines, and reasons for changing jobs.
Final Verdict: Rejected. The candidate believes the System Design round was the decider.
