The process started with an online coding round on HackerRank, consisting of 3 questions in 90 minutes. The first was a simple PnC formula-based question. The second was a medium-level array-based problem where brute force passed 7/11 test cases. The third question, named "Marathon" and similar to "Rat in a maze," was not fully understood due to time constraints. Out of 150 students, 22 were shortlisted, and 10 were waitlisted.
Round 2: Technical I (3 questions, easy level). Questions included finding the missing element in an array of N-1 elements from 1 to N (expected optimized solution beyond O(nlogn)), and other problems where most candidates were selected if they answered all 3 correctly.
Round 3: Technical II (Tough questions, 17 out of 22 made it). The interviewer was very suggestive, providing hints. One question was "Sum of minimum elements of all subarrays." The candidate immediately gave an O(nlogn) solution but was asked to optimize it further, which they couldn't despite hints. Another problem involved using a stack, which was proved wrong, and a hint was given to use a min-heap, leading to an O(nlogk) solution. A matrix-based problem was also discussed, with a solution in O(r^2c^2) provided.
Round 4: Hiring Manager Round. This round was described as a casual talk. Questions included "How was I?", "Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?", strengths and weaknesses, JEE story, technical and personality growth, and project discussions. The candidate was praised for honesty. The interviewer commented that the candidate was not passionate enough, which the candidate agreed with. The interviewer stated it was the best HM interview of the day.
