This experience details an on-campus internship interview process with Expedia.
1. Online Test (HackerRank): The test had 0 cutoff and consisted of 10 MCQs (OS, OOPs, Data Structures, Algorithms) and 2 coding questions. One coding question was related to forming a staircase shape with 'n' coins, where the k-th row has 'k' coins.
2. Technical Interview Round 1: The interviewer asked about the candidate's projects and their real-life applications. A real-life problem was posed: Given flight starting and terminating stops (e.g., Delhi to Mumbai), suggest a data structure and optimize flight bookings to find a flight from Delhi to Goa with a minimum number of stops.
3. Technical Interview Round 2: This round was mainly based on projects, conducted by someone working with tech teams. It also included 2 coding questions and 1 puzzle. One coding question was the "staircase problem" (cannot recall the other). The puzzle was described as hard.
4. Behavioral Interview / Director Round: This was described as the "most interesting interview" and was taken by a director. The interviewer discussed projects from the CV and real-life problems faced in data validation. There was a 20-minute discussion on the working of Amazon Recommender Systems, followed by asking the candidate to suggest new ML/AI features for Amazon and how Machine Learning can enhance tourist experiences. Finally, questions about career growth were asked.
The candidate was selected after a few hours of the results being announced.
