Rounds: 6 rounds (4 technical, 1 HR, 1 CEO)
Topics Asked: Data Structures, Algorithms (DP, Arrays, Linked Lists, Trees, Hash Maps), System Design (API design, REST APIs, filters, sort options), Projects, Tech Stack, Behavioral, Company Goals, Expectations.
The candidate was contacted by a recruiter for an SE-2 position at ET Money (Times Group) in Gurgaon. The overall experience was very good. There were a total of 6 rounds: 4 technical rounds, followed by an HR round and a CEO round.
Round 1 (Technical - Coding): This round lasted 60 minutes and involved 3 coding problems. The problems were: a simple DP problem to find the number of ways (similar to the Staircase problem), finding the longest substring with unique characters, and merging two sorted lists. The expectation was to think and code within the given time.
Round 2 (Technical - Coding): This round included problems such as finding the minimum in a rotated sorted array, a problem similar to the Jump Array problem (expecting an O(N) approach), and sorting an array so that positive elements are at even indices and negative elements are at odd indices.
Round 3 (Technical - Coding/Problem Solving/Design): Questions in this round included finding a target in a rotated sorted array, finding the factorial of a very large number (requiring custom functions for multiplication and addition using strings), and designing a Hash Map. The candidate struggled with the second question but was given extra time to debug and solve it.
Round 4 (Technical - Project Discussion & Assignment): This round was split into two parts.
Round 4a: Discussion revolved around past projects and the candidate's tech stack. Following this, an assignment was given to write a few REST APIs and add filter and sort options.
Round 4b: This part involved a review of the assignment and suggestions, along with a detailed discussion on how to improve the implementation.
Round 5 (HR Round): This was a usual HR round.
Round 6 (CEO Round): The final round involved a discussion about the ET Money app, future goals, and expectations.
