This interview experience for an SDE role at eQ Technologic for the 2025 batch was conducted on-campus at PICT and resulted in the candidate's selection along with 7 others.
Round 1: Online Assessment (1 hour)
The test comprised MCQs related to aptitude for 15 minutes and two coding questions for 45 minutes. The test difficulty was easy-medium, and both MCQ and coding scores were important. 23 students were shortlisted for virtual interview rounds.
Round 2: Technical Interview I (1 hour)
Interviews were held virtually. The interviewer was interested in Data Structures and Algorithms concepts. The candidate was asked to share their screen and write code on an IDE/online compiler, choosing C++. The question level was easy-medium, and the interviewer focused on the coding solution and approach used.
Round 3: Technical Interview II (2.5–3 hours)
This round was scheduled in the evening and was noted as one of the lengthiest interviews. The interviewer showed interest in DSA concepts, asked to see the candidate's LeetCode profile, and discussed their summer internship work. Questions were asked one by one, requiring screen sharing and coding on an IDE/online compiler (C++ was chosen). The question level was easy-medium, with focus on coding approach and logic. A tricky question involved suggesting how to store two types of records (id and description) and perform operations; while file handling was expected, the candidate used normal classes, objects, and data structures. A lot of discussion ensued, with the interviewer eventually sharing their optimal approach.
Round 4: Coding Test (90 minutes)
In this round, a problem statement was provided, and the candidate had to code the solution and send it back without compiling, as it was expected to be the first draft of the code.
Round 5: HR/Managerial (30 minutes)
This round involved discussion over the submitted code and refinements suggested by the interviewer, who expected out-of-the-box thinking. Normal HR questions about strengths, improvements, and hobbies were asked, along with discussions about company culture and work. The interviewer also discussed hobbies like cricket and favorite players.
Conclusion: The candidate emphasized that strong fundamental and key concepts related to one's profile, along with the coding approach and proposed logic, were crucial throughout the rounds.
