This experience for a C++ Developer role at AMD involved multiple rounds, ultimately resulting in not being selected after the final round.
Round 1 – DSA Focused (1 Hour): This round started with a brief introduction. It included three DSA problems focusing on array-based logic, string manipulation, and dynamic programming. A specific problem mentioned was the Coin Change problem.
Round 2 – Technical Concepts (1 Hour): After a quick introduction, this round delved into Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts such as Abstraction, Inheritance, and Polymorphism. SQL query problems covering loops, conditionals, subqueries, and SQL functions were also part of this round. A problem-solving question related to Stock Price Variation (sell first, then buy – a reverse logic challenge) was asked. Multithreading & Concurrency concepts were also discussed.
Round 3 – CS Fundamentals & Experience (1 Hour): This round involved an in-depth discussion on OS Concepts (Scheduling, Memory, Threads), Computer Networks (Protocols, layers), and Advanced OOP Design (real-world modeling). There was also a significant discussion about prior projects, ownership, and design choices.
Despite not being selected, the candidate found the experience valuable for revisiting core CS concepts, solving challenging problems under pressure, and clearly communicating their thought process.
