The candidate, a Final Year Student of NIT Agartala, went through the BOX8 on-campus drive for Software Developer Engineers. The process began with a form asking about internships, projects, and HR questions. There were 3 rounds in total.
Round 1 (Coding Round): This round was on HackerRank, lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. It featured three coding questions: two medium level and one hard type. Plagiarism was strictly monitored.
Round 2 (Technical Interview 1): This round was scheduled for 45 minutes but extended to about 60 minutes. The interviewers asked the candidate to explain their projects and posed questions related to them. Questions on Node.js, React, jQuery, and CSS were asked based on the resume. A puzzle was also given: "Torch and Bridge puzzle". OOPS concepts (pure virtual function, operator overloading), DBMS (ACID properties), and Computer Networks (what happens when we turn on computer, what happens when we enter google.com, network protocols) were covered. Two coding questions were given: "Sum of the alphabetical values of the characters of a string" and "Reverse words in a given string".
Round 3 (Technical Interview 2): This interview was considered "bit hard". Projects were discussed again, with a deeper dive into their details. Backend questions included how sockets work, advantages of MongoDB over SQL, how to debug errors (with given error statements), and situational questions for a backend engineer. Concepts like sessions, cookies, web packs, and APIs were also explored. The candidate was asked to write SQL queries involving different types of JOINs and Nested queries. Two additional coding questions were given, but the specific problems were not mentioned.
