Sheetal Prakash shared her interview experience for a Software Engineer role at Dover Corporation, which was part of campus placements. The process involved an online test followed by three interview rounds.
Round 1: Online Test (Technical Aptitude & Coding)
This round had two parts. The Technical Aptitude section focused on programming fundamentals, DBMS, and MySQL. The coding round presented two easy questions to be completed in 20 minutes, primarily involving string manipulation. Sheetal prepared using GeeksforGeeks and LeetCode.
Round 2: Technical Interview
This round extensively covered basic concepts of Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs). The interviewer provided code snippets and asked to predict outputs, followed by discussions on the reasoning. Key OOPs concepts like Inheritance and Polymorphism were discussed. Sheetal was also asked to explain her approach to solving a problem statement using pseudocode, without actual execution. A discussion about her projects was also part of this round.
Round 3: Hiring Manager Round
In this round, the interviewer allowed the candidate to choose a subject to be questioned on. There was also a focus on analytical and logical reasoning, with 5-6 puzzles to solve, which were described as tricky but simple, testing analytical and logical skills.
Round 4: HR Round
Sheetal found the HR round to be the most difficult to crack, as the questions are unpredictable. General HR questions were asked, including family background, hobbies, passions, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?", "Why do you want to work in this company?", and "What are your strengths and weaknesses?".
