Topics Asked: Aptitude, OS, DBMS, Computer Networks, C programming (output-based questions), Coding (sum of product of middle row/column in odd square matrix, lucky numbers in a matrix), AWS, Cloud, UNIX script commands (remove files, change directory contents, create directory), ML (supervised/unsupervised learning), JSON parsing, IoT protocols, Cloud, System Security, C++ (access modifiers, class, OOP concepts, difference between C and C++), Behavioral (working with unfamiliar technologies like Scala/Big Data).
This interview experience for an SDE role in Dell R&D involved three main rounds.
Round 1: Online Assessment (125 minutes): Conducted via HirePro, this round was divided into three sections with inter-sectional switching permitted.
Round 2: Technical Interview (2 interviewers): Started with an introduction. Questions were asked about technologies relevant to the job requirement, including AWS and general cloud concepts. UNIX script commands like "How to remove all files?", "How to change directory contents?", and "How to create a new directory?" were asked. ML concepts like "What are supervised and unsupervised learning?" and "How to perform JSON parsing?" were also discussed, as they were on the resume.
Round 3: Technical Interview (2 senior-level employees): This round was more deeply technical. It involved in-depth questions related to the candidate's projects, particularly on IoT, IoT protocols, cloud, and system security. Since C++ was the primary programming language, simple questions about C++ like access modifiers, classes, OOP concepts, and the difference between C and C++ were asked. A behavioral question was posed: "We work with Scala, Big Data, and some other technologies, which you do not have prior experience with, how do you think you could add to our company?"
