Dell Technologies visited the campus for the role of SDE-1 (Solutions Role) - Intern + FTE 2022, offering a 6-month internship convertible to full-time. Eligibility required a CGPA of 7.5 and above with no active backlogs, open to CS/IT students. Around 600 students applied from the college.
ROUND 1 (Resume Shortlisting): Resumes were submitted, and after 4-5 days, about 90 students were shortlisted for the online test. CGPA was not the sole criterion; projects and skills in the resume played a significant role.
ROUND 2 (Online Test - 60 minutes): The online test was conducted on the HirePro platform. It was an MCQ-based test with 50 questions. 10 questions were from Aptitude, and the rest were purely based on Core CS subjects like DBMS, OS, Networking, OOPS, C++, Java, SQL, and Data Structures. The test was considered quite lengthy and conceptual. The candidate confidently answered 38-40 questions and was selected. Around 12 students advanced to the next round.
ROUND 3 (Technical Interview 1 - 45 minutes): This round was conducted on Microsoft Teams. The interviewer was polite and started with an introduction. The candidate discussed two projects (customizing Apache Web Server and LSB Technique of Image Steganography), facing cross-questions about motivation and tech stack. Extensive questions were asked on OOPS concepts, DBMS, OS, and Networking, including: "Explain the layers of the OSI Model," "CPU Scheduling techniques and conceptual questions," and "Implement encapsulation." The interviewer also inquired about the preferred programming language (C++), leading to questions on doubly linked list implementation, interfaces, and friend functions in C++.
ROUND 4 (Managerial + HR - 30 minutes): This round was primarily based on the candidate's resume and skill-set. Questions included internships, Microsoft Azure services, and hackathon projects. Behavioral questions on teamwork, team management, and conflicts were also asked. The interview concluded with the candidate asking questions about the internship period and technologies.
