This experience details a campus placement leading to an offer for a Software Engineer position at Da Vinci Derivatives.
Round 1: Online Test
The online test lasted "30–40 mins." Unconventionally, it focused primarily on "C++ functionalities and semantics, with 50 MCQs on them." The candidate found this to be one of their strengths. Only a small number of candidates (not more than five) were shortlisted for the interview process.
Round 2: Interview (Technical + HR mix)
There was a "single round of interviews, which went on for around an hour," combining technical and HR aspects.
The interview started with an introduction from the candidate.
Discussions then moved to the candidate's internship work (at Quadeye Securities as a Systems Engineer). "Many questions regarding my work, how I approached it, the difficulties I faced, and my overall experience" were asked.
Technical questions included "general algorithm and data structures questions, the complexities of various containers in STL, and then there were questions on the concepts of process and threading. The implications of various standard practices and the tradeoffs considered were also tested."
Behavioral and fit questions involved asking about the candidate's "general interest in the role and the company" and examining "other significant projects I have worked on."
Overall Experience: The company tested a "wide array of topics," and while "none of them were complex, all of them, in one way or another, required quite some out of box thought." The candidate received an acceptance at the end of this single interview round. Tips included honing algorithm and data structure knowledge through competitive programming and brushing up on Operating Systems and Computer Networks.
