Rounds: 2 (Initial Coding Test, Technical Interview 1)
Topics Asked: OOP, DBMS, DSA, SQL, OS, Project Discussion
The interview process by ConsultAdd for CS/IT students at SGSITS Indore began with an online coding test.
Initial Coding Test
This round resembled a pen-and-paper format, not a traditional IDE. It lasted 30 minutes for coding, followed by a 5-minute dry run for each question. There were 2 coding questions categorized as easy to medium. The platform was similar to Notepad, and there was no compiler. Emphasis was on understanding the approach rather than syntax errors. The candidate successfully cleared this round.
Technical Interview 1
Out of 100+ students, 54 qualified for this round, with only 12 advancing to the next stage (Technical Interview 2 + HR). The interview process started at 10 AM and concluded at approximately 6 PM. The candidate was the last one interviewed. Four panels conducted interviews simultaneously, each lasting about 25-30 minutes.
Questions covered a broad range of topics including OOP, DBMS, DSA, SQL, OS, and Java-specific queries. No questions were repeated among the 54 students. Questions asked included an introduction, project discussion (role in a group project, team size, conflicts, managing backend dependencies), and two DSA questions. One DSA question was: "Given an n x n matrix filled with zeros and ones, find the maximum size square that can be created only via 1's, with no 0's within." SQL questions asked about databases worked with. OOP questions were related to Java.
The interviewer provided feedback, commending confidence and communication but suggesting a focus on delivering more optimized solutions from the start.
