This interview experience for an SDE role at AlphaGrep Securities was described as "Worst" by the candidate.
Online Assessment: The assessment lasted 1 hour and was conducted on HackerRank. It consisted of 3 coding questions of medium difficulty. The candidate was able to solve all questions and clear all test cases remotely. Only 4 students from their college were selected for further rounds.
Technical Interview: The interview was initially delayed and rescheduled. The interviewer was 10 minutes late on the rescheduled day. The interviewer did not ask about the candidate's resume, work experience, or projects, stating, "I don't want to hear all this let's start with the interview."
The interviewer then presented a simple coding-based question: given some stocks and the quantity in which they were bought/sold, the goal was to print the OpenPosition, NetProfit, and Value. The question was mostly of easy-medium difficulty and did not require many calculations. The candidate explained their thought process, but the interviewer asked them to just show the result and muted their mic for half the interview, seemingly doing other work. After the candidate displayed the result, they were asked to shorten the code and then to make it modular, which they did. The interviewer then questioned the naming convention of the "main" function in the driver code and asked the candidate to shorten the code further without providing guidance. The interview concluded abruptly. The candidate did not clear this round.
