GE offered internships in GE Renewables DT Business and Power DT Business. The process was entirely online due to the COVID situation. Eligible students were from B.Tech streams like CCE, CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, IC with at least 7 CGPA and 70% in 10th and 12th.
Round 1: Online Test (Cocubes)
This was a 120-minute video-proctored test with two sections: Aptitude and Coding. The aptitude section had 50 questions of medium difficulty, to be answered in 50 minutes. The online coding assessment had 2 questions to be coded in 45 minutes, each with different points. Questions included: "Make the amount using the minimum number of coins having different denominations" and "Check if a binary tree is a subtree of another binary tree, then return the number of nodes in the subtree".
Round 2: Technical Interview
42 students were selected for this round and segregated into Renewable DT Business and Power DT Business. This round lasted around 40 minutes and was heavily focused on the resume. The interviewer asked questions related to academic and extra-curricular activities, projects, technologies used, aspirations, and rapid-fire questions on core Java and OOPs concepts. A tip given was to only include skills one is perfect at on the resume.
Round 3: Managerial Round
This round involved discussions about the candidate's branch (e.g., difference between CS and IT), current semester subjects, and projects not mentioned on the resume. The interviewer also asked for an explanation of the Spiral Model with a real-world example. Behavioral questions about aspirations, strengths, weaknesses, and extra-curricular activities were also covered.
Round 4: HR Round
The HR interviewer's demeanor was noted as intentionally challenging, possibly to throw the candidate off. Questions focused on how the candidate would contribute to the company and how they would solve a given scenario with their current skill set. Always ask questions at the end to show interest.
