The GEP interview focused mainly on DSA, core CS fundamentals, SQL, and projects. The DSA round included questions on arrays, strings, hashing, linked lists, trees, graphs, BFS/DFS, dynamic programming, and time and space complexity. The interviewer focused not only on getting the correct answer but also on the approach, edge cases, and optimization of the solution. The OOP and DBMS discussion covered concepts such as encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, constructors, function overloading and overriding, normalization, keys, ACID properties, transactions, indexing, joins, and concurrency. In SQL, questions involved joins, GROUP BY, HAVING, subqueries, aggregate functions, CTEs, and window functions such as RANK(), DENSE_RANK(), and ROW_NUMBER(). Questions from Operating Systems and Computer Networks included process vs thread, CPU scheduling, deadlocks, synchronization, virtual memory, paging, OSI and TCP/IP models, TCP vs UDP, HTTP vs HTTPS, DNS, and the TCP three-way handshake. There were also basic system-design questions around REST APIs, databases, caching, scalability, and client-server architecture. A significant part of the interview was dedicated to projects. The interviewer asked for a detailed explanation of the projects mentioned on the resume, including the problem statement, architecture, technologies used, implementation details, design decisions, challenges faced, and the candidate's individual contribution. Follow-up questions were asked to verify whether the candidate actually understood the implementation rather than just knowing the project description. The final discussion included HR and behavioral questions such as self-introduction, strengths and weaknesses, why GEP, career goals, teamwork, handling difficult situations, and relocation. Overall, the interview required a good combination of DSA problem-solving, CS fundamentals, SQL knowledge, and strong understanding of the projects mentioned on the resume.
