BNY Interview Experience – On-Campus | 2026** There were **2 interview rounds** at BNY after the OA. It was an **on-campus opportunity**. OA Round – 26 July 2026** The OA consisted of **3 questions**: The first question was a **DSA question**. The second question was also a **DSA question**. The third question was a **code-based debugging question**. They provided an AI assistant along with a codebase. We had to ask questions to the AI assistant, understand/debug the given codebase, and run it against different test cases. After the OA, around **40 students were shortlisted for the interviews**. Round 1 – Technical** The interviewer first asked me to briefly explain my projects. Since one of my projects was based on **JWT authentication**, he asked several questions around authentication, such as: What is a JWT token? Advantages and drawbacks of JWT. What is session-based authentication and how would you implement it? What are the drawbacks of session-based authentication? In case of **horizontal scaling**, if there are multiple servers, how would the second server know that the user's session is stored on the first server? How would different servers communicate/share sessions? What happens if one of the servers crashes? What happens if the load balancer itself crashes? Then he moved to **DBMS and DSA** questions. He asked: What is an index? How is an index implemented using **B/B+ trees**? What is the use of a **Red-Black Tree**? Implement a Red-Black Tree. Implement an **autocomplete suggestion system using a Trie** — whenever a user types a prefix, the system should suggest complete words. How would you implement **LRU/LFU**-type functionality? Some additional **OS and DBMS** questions. Overall, Round 1 was quite technical and focused heavily on **projects, DSA, DBMS, OS, and backend concepts**. Round 2 – HR + Technical** The second round was a combination of **HR and technical questions**. They asked: Why do you want to join BNY? Since I am from a **non-circuital branch**, why do I want to pursue Software Development instead of my core field? How would I balance my core subjects/work with software development? Technically, the interviewer asked me to explain my project in much more depth. He also asked me to **write the complete project code**. Initially, I wrote some pseudocode, but he specifically wanted the actual implementation, so I wrote the code. He also asked me to write/explain the Trie autocomplete code that I had implemented in Round 1 and asked several follow-up questions around my projects. Towards the end, he asked some general **HR questions as well. Overall, both rounds were a mix of DSA + CS fundamentals + projects + backend concepts + HR, with a strong focus on whether I actually understood the projects mentioned on my resume.
