The Virtusa placement process for the Junior Data Scientist role was comprehensive and well-structured, beginning with Round 3, the first technical interview conducted on-site one month after Round 2 results were declared, lasting an hour and focusing on core programming, personal project evaluation, and modern AI concepts, where I was asked to walk through my resume introduction, discuss in detail the latest AI, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning projects I had worked on during my BTech, answer basic conceptual questions regarding Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and solve two coding questions, with the main obstacle being the challenge of explaining architectural nuances of AI/ML projects clearly under time constraints; this was immediately followed by Round 4, the second technical interview conducted on-site exactly one hour later, also lasting an hour, which shifted focus to data science core theory, mathematics, and problem-solving, with key questions on fundamental data science concepts, probability-based mathematics, and one string-based Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) question, where the obstacle was quickly transitioning from high-level AI/RAG concepts in the previous round to foundational mathematics and probability; then came Round 5, the HR round conducted via video call the next day, lasting 10 minutes and focusing on culture fit, company awareness, and operational flexibility, where I was asked for a brief personal introduction, why I wanted to join Virtusa, and whether I was open to relocating and working anywhere in India, with the challenge being to keep answers concise and impactful within the short time window; reflecting on the process, the company culture appeared professional and structured, with the back-to-back scheduling of technical rounds highlighting an organized and fast-paced evaluation style, while the work environment was smoothly coordinated by both the college placement cell and Virtusa HR team, and the role itself offered a strong starting platform as a Junior Data Scientist, making it an excellent domain kickstart opportunity for freshers, with evaluator feedback appreciating my strong grasp of modern AI concepts like RAG alongside solid core programming logic; finally, the results were declared shortly after the HR round, confirming my selection, and overall the placement process tested aptitude, communication skills, core programming, AI/ML knowledge, mathematics, and fundamental data science concepts, providing a balanced assessment of both technical expertise and professional readiness, leaving me excited to begin my professional journey with Virtusa as a Junior Data Scientist.
