Round 1: Technical Interview: This round was extensive. It began with a discussion of projects from the candidate's resume. Machine Learning topics covered the RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipeline, how neural networks work, their training process, the functioning of a neuron, and embedding models like Word2Vec. DevOps and System Design questions focused on Docker containerization, Kubernetes (its necessity and functioning), Redis (scaling capabilities), load balancing, and consistent hashing. Computer Networks questions included DNS functioning and TCP vs UDP. For DSA, a problem called "Maximal Square" was given, which the candidate implemented on paper, discussing edge cases and optimizations. The candidate's strategy of using illustrations and diagrams to explain concepts was noted as impressive. 8 candidates advanced to the next round.
Round 2: Advanced Technical Interview: This round emphasized practical implementation and system design. The interviewer briefly reviewed all the candidate's projects. A backend implementation task involved coding request logic in Golang, with a focus on optimizing using Golang's concurrency model (goroutines and channels), and handling additional scenarios like timeouts and edge cases. System Design questions involved designing a scalable system for Zomato x Blinkit, discussing challenges, solutions, and trade-offs. The candidate also demonstrated continuous learning. 3 candidates, including the interviewee, were selected for the final round.
