This candidate interviewed for a Full Stack Software Engineer role at Visa in May 2025. The process initially resulted in a rejection, but Visa reached out again, leading to a team matching process and ultimately an offer.
Round 1: Phone Screen + Online Assessment (OA): The recruiter discussed the role and confirmed Java experience. The candidate skipped the OA because they had recently taken a GCA assessment on CodeSignal.
Round 2: Hiring Manager Round: This was a short round (20-25 minutes) focusing on standard behavioral and STAR format questions, along with Visa's Principles.
Round 3: Technical Round (Backend): Although told it would be Java-focused, this round involved a LeetCode-style problem. The problem was similar to: "Given an array of words, return true or false if the target word can be constructed in camel case."
Round 4: Technical Round (Frontend): This round involved creating a To Do List using React. While coding, the interviewer asked conceptual trivia questions about why certain behaviors were occurring, how to structure fetching items from an API, and the user flow.
Team Matching: After the initial rejection, Visa reached out for a team matching process, which led to further interviews with potential teams and ultimately an offer.
