Western Digital visited the campus in August 2021, offering Internship+Placement roles.
Round 1 (Online Coding Round): This was an online test of 1 hour duration, a mix of coding questions, aptitude questions, C/C++ questions, and OS concepts. Questions were easy, but speed was essential due to the quantity. Around 25 students were selected for the interview rounds.
Round 2 (First Technical Round): This round lasted about 45 minutes to 1 hour, focusing on judging coding skills and fundamentals. The candidate was asked to write code to reverse words in a string. This was followed by discussions on previous internships and projects, including the tools used.
Round 3 (Second Technical Round): This round went for about 1 hour 50 minutes. The interviewer asked a lot of coding questions and puzzles. Some questions included: detecting and removing a loop in a linked list, writing a C function to print the middle of a linked list, implementing a stack using a singly linked list, longest palindromic substring, and questions from OOPS. Operating system concepts like process scheduling, virtual memory, and semaphores were also discussed.
Round 4 (Managerial Round): The profile was for firmware development, so the interviewer assessed the candidate's interest in hardware by discussing topics like HDD, SSD, and Pendrive working.
Round 5 (HR Round): This was a short round, about 5-10 minutes, primarily for confirming hiring and location. The HR mentioned positive feedback from interviewers.
Tips: Practice aptitude, especially from GeeksforGeeks or Indiabix, to improve speed. Prepare Linked List and OS very well, and read some puzzles. Be confident and maintain good communication skills. Always ask questions to the interviewer at the end.
