The recruitment process at Trimble for the Software Development Engineer role involved an online assessment followed by multiple interview rounds.
Round 1: Online Assessment (HackerEarth)
This round was conducted in 3 sub-rounds with a minimum of 30 minutes gap between each. The aggregate marks of all three sub-rounds were considered for shortlisting.
Round 2: Technical Interview 1
The interviewer started with self-introductions and simple questions from the resume. The candidate was asked to consider the interviewer as a client who wanted a Contact application. Questions revolved around how to converse with the client and what kind of data structure would be used for storing contacts, with justification. Questions were similar to system design.
Round 3: Technical Interview 2
This round involved a system design question: "Design a navigation system that can be used to navigate inside the college similar to Google Maps."
Round 4: HR Interview
This was a conversational round. Questions were asked about family and general discussions about the company's working environment and growth opportunities. After this round, the final selections were announced, and the candidate was selected.
Tips: Practice DSA questions, even if only brute-force solutions can be provided. Review basic core concepts and sample system design questions. Ensure a well-structured resume, only mentioning known topics. Prepare an attractive self-introduction.
