This candidate went through a challenging and insightful interview process for a Software Developer role at UKG, which tested technical knowledge, problem-solving, and communication skills. The entire process consisted of four rounds.
Round 1: Online Assessment
The first round was an online assessment on HackerRank. It included one coding problem based on Data Structures and Algorithms, described as LeetCode medium level. Additionally, there were multiple-choice questions covering core Computer Science fundamentals like OOPs, DBMS, Operating Systems, and Aptitude. The candidate successfully solved the coding question and completed all MCQs within the given time.
Round 2: Technical Interview 1
The interviewer began by creating a comfortable atmosphere. The round started with a DSA question based on the sliding window technique (LeetCode medium level), where the candidate explained the approach and provided pseudocode. The discussion then moved to core Java topics, including garbage collection, the internal storage of strings, and OOPs concepts. The interviewer also presented code snippets for output prediction and discussed the candidate's projects in detail. This round lasted around 45 minutes and was very interactive.
Round 3: Technical Interview 2 (Bar Raiser)
This round was a "bar raiser" technical interview, with an interviewer sharing the candidate's tech stack (mainly backend development with Spring Boot). Questions immediately focused on APIs, Spring Boot concepts, and authentication mechanisms. This was followed by three to four medium-level DSA problems, for which the candidate explained approaches. SQL knowledge was also tested with table structures and query writing. The round concluded with an in-depth discussion about the candidate's internship project, its architecture, and implementation details. This comprehensive round lasted about one and a half hours.
Round 4: Director + HR Round
The final round consisted of discussions with a Director and HR. The Director round primarily focused on the candidate's resume, technical stack, and past achievements. The HR round was a more casual discussion covering family background, preferred work location, and general company-related topics.
