This interview experience for a Software Engineer FTE role at Udaan involved four rounds.
Round 1 (Online Coding Test):
Approximately 230 students participated in this round on HackerEarth. It consisted of one hard coding question based on a calendar appointment system, requiring four explicit functions. The candidate's code cleared 8 out of 14 test cases, and 12 people were selected for the next round.
Round 2 (Machine Coding Round):
The candidate received a PDF via email detailing the objective: to build a fitness booking system requiring at least 2 APIs within 1 hour and 30 minutes. The code, output screenshots, and a readme file were to be submitted as a zip. Only 6 candidates were selected for the interviews.
Round 3 (Online Technical Interview):
Conducted on MS Teams, this round required the candidate to share their screen and use Notepad to show relational database schemas for the fitness system designed in Round 2. Many questions and scenarios were posed regarding optimizing the number of tables and query time. Only 4 candidates proceeded to the HR round.
Round 4 (Online HR interview):
Also on MS Teams, this round was mostly behavioral. The interviewer delved into internship and personal projects from the resume. Questions included the candidate's knowledge of Udaan and their motivation to join the company, followed by an opportunity for the candidate to ask questions. Two candidates were selected for the position, and the author was one of them.
Tips for preparation: Check company-based questions on platforms like GeeksforGeeks and Interviewbit. Use a combination of LeetCode, GeeksforGeeks, HackerRank, with a 30-45 minute time limit per question. Be familiar with OS, DBMS, and OOPS concepts.
