The selection process for the Software Engineer FT role at Udaan comprised two coding rounds followed by two interview rounds.
Coding Round 1:
This round was conducted on HackerEarth, with 86 students appearing. It featured one challenging coding question to be solved in 2 hours. The task was to create a calendar appointment system requiring four explicit functions, solved using an object-oriented programming approach. The candidate's code cleared 12 out of 14 test cases, and 16 students were selected for the next round.
Coding Round 2: Machine Coding Round
Candidates received a PDF with a question via email. The objective was to build a fitness booking system that required creating 2 APIs within 1 hour and 30 minutes. Backend database creation was optional, but modeling needed to be completed. The code and a readme file were submitted as a zip file. Ten students were selected for the interviews.
Round 1 (Tech-Product Round):
This 45-50 minute interview was conducted on Google Meet by a product engineer. After introductions, the interviewer asked to walk through the resume. The round was case study-based, focusing on improving a hypothetical Udaan B2C delivery service app to retain new customers. The discussion involved suggesting measures and their impact, with a focus on new customers.
Round 2 (Tech Round):
This 45-50 minute interview was also on Google Meet, conducted by an SDE. It was work experience-based, involving a detailed discussion of projects and internship work, including how functionalities were achieved. Questions also covered product USP and decentralization. The interviewer inquired about the candidate's motivation for software development.
Tips for Udaan: The company sometimes prefers candidates with both product and tech knowledge, and rounds may focus solely on development skills rather than DSA.
