Experience:

This SDE-1 Backend interview experience for Tekion took place in January 2025, with the opportunity sourced via a Google Form shared by a Tekion employee.

Round 1: Problem Solving & Data Structures (1 hr)

• Started with brief introductions.
• Expected to write code for two problems within 60 minutes.
  • Problem 1: Find the nth palindrome number containing only 1 and 2, with an even length and increasing elements (series: 11, 22, 1111, 1221, 2112, 2222, 111111, etc.).
  • Problem 2: LeetCode - Search in Rotated Sorted Array.
• The candidate fully solved the second question but struggled with the first.
• Result: Cleared this round after 2-3 days.

Round 2: System Design round — LLD (1 hr)

• Asked to design a chess game.
• The candidate first wrote functional requirements, then created a low-level design using Java classes.
• Result: Positive feedback received after 2-3 days.

Round 3: HR discussion round (1 hr)

• Introductions from both sides.
• The hiring manager asked about the candidate's latest project from the resume and grilled them on its details.
• Discussed other high-level design topics.
• Inquired about other offers, salary expectations, and comfort with a work-from-office (WFO) setup.

Result: After 4-5 days, an email was received stating that the application would not be moving forward. Verdict: Rejected.
