The interview process at TransUnion for the Developer/Quality Engineering role consisted of three rounds.
Round 1: Coding Assessment
This round was conducted on a platform similar to HackerRank and lasted 90 minutes. Candidates were given three problems to solve.
Round 2: Technical Interview (Part 1)
This initial technical interview primarily assessed problem-solving abilities. The interviewer tasked the candidate with deleting the middle node of a linked list. General questions about the candidate's background and experiences were also asked. While this interview lasted 20 minutes for the candidate, some other candidates had longer sessions, including one assigned a complex system design problem, such as designing a Ludo game.
Round 3: Technical Interview (Part 2)
Conducted by a panel of two interviewers, this round started with a discussion of the candidate's internship experiences. A problem related to finding the Next Greater Element in a Circular Array was presented. Given the candidate's web development project, the conversation moved to database management, including questions about the choice of MongoDB, single-instance vs. multi-instance database configuration, and the functioning of URL navigation in a browser. Subsequently, the candidate was asked to explain ACID properties in DBMS with examples and discuss various types of joins in SQL.
