This candidate interviewed for an SDE 2 (C++ Developer) role in Gurgaon in November 2021, receiving a rejection in January 2022. The process started with an Online Test.
The Online Test had three sections. The first section contained 7 MCQ questions mostly from Data Structures, OOP, OS, and Networking. The second section had two code debugging questions. The last section included two coding questions: one easy Bellman-Ford question and another LeetCode hard-level question. The online test was considered medium-hard.
Round 1, lasting 45 minutes, was taken by a senior team member. It involved discussions around network TCP and UDP protocols, a small C++ code snippet with errors to identify, and a Trie-based question not found on LeetCode, which required processing strings backward for optimal complexity.
Round 2 was also conducted by a senior in the team and focused heavily on C++. In-depth questions were asked about classes, virtual functions, and virtual tables, requiring a very granular understanding of C++ OOP. Following this, a Low-Level System Design question was posed: to design an LLD for a high-frequency trading company, focusing on concepts like callbacks and observers, and proper class implementation. The candidate felt this round did not go well, leading to no further interviews.
