Barclays visited the campus in September 2023 to hire 3rd-year students for the 2024 Summer Internship role. Eligibility criteria included students from CS, IT, ETC departments with a CGPA >= 60% across all semesters and no active backlogs.
ROUND 1: Online Technical Assessment (September 4, 2023)
The online assessment (OA) format was different from previous years. It consisted of 10 MCQs focusing on output-based concepts in C++, Java, and SQL, along with questions on OS, DBMS, and OOPs. There was a single, high-level, string-based coding question worth 50 marks, which was challenging. Additionally, a 10-mark SQL query-based question was included. The total time allotted was 1.5 hours. Out of all participants, 17 students were selected for the next round.
ROUND 2: Technical + HR Interview (October 4, 2023)
The interview was conducted virtually on Microsoft Teams. The interviewer began with "Tell me about yourself." The candidate discussed their Instagram page related to Harry Potter and their projects, including a demonstration. Questions were asked about JavaScript familiarity, and since the candidate was more comfortable with C++, further questions on C++ (e.g., `void`, differences between C and C++) were posed. The interview also covered SQL joins. HR-related questions included past volunteering experiences and a situational question about implementing a driven mindset. The interviewer also inquired if the candidate had any questions.
Tips: Do not make things up on your resume, as everything mentioned will be cross-checked. Barclays often focuses more on core subjects than Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). Understand Barclays' values, like "RISES," as related questions are common.
