This interview experience is based on an interview with Tanusha, who secured a Software Design Intern position at Silicon Labs. The company visited her campus for recruitment during her third year, first semester.
The recruitment process included a Resume Screening, an Online Assessment, two Technical Rounds, and an HR Round.
Online Assessment: This round lasted one and a half hours. Candidates were given a choice of programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python) and had to stick to their chosen language throughout the coding sections. The assessment included two coding questions, described as mostly easy to medium level, focusing on strings and arrays. Additionally, there were 20 technical MCQs.
Technical Rounds: These rounds focused on core skills. While specific questions weren't detailed in the snippet, they likely delved into the technical aspects relevant to a Software Design Intern role.
HR Round: This was primarily a behavioral round, described as "mostly the water flow around" and interactive. Tanusha highlighted her strategy for showcasing strengths by focusing on projects and achievements, which demonstrated her leadership, innovation, and problem-solving skills. She practiced the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure her responses for clarity and relevance.
