Experience:

This on-campus interview experience for Siemens PLM was conducted virtually due to COVID-19, with the online test and pre-placement talk on one day, and interviews on the next. Approximately 300 students took the online test, and 48 were shortlisted.

The Online Test was on HackerEarth, consisting of 31 MCQs. Questions were primarily on C/C++ (predict the output), logical ability, and quantitative aptitude.

Interview Round 1 (Technical) lasted about 1 hour with a two-interviewer panel. It began with introductions, personal interests (favorite book/author), and then technical questions. Topics included the four pillars of OOP with examples, how virtual functions work in runtime polymorphism, and a scenario to identify the specific subclass a base class pointer was pointing to. Differences between C++ and Java, and writing C++ code to find if a second string is a substring of the first (without STL functions) were also asked. Basic SQL knowledge was tested.

Interview Round 2 (Techno-HR) lasted 35-40 minutes with one interviewer. After an introduction, the candidate was asked to rate themselves in C++. Further questions about C++ and the meaning of object-oriented programming were asked, with follow-up questions based on the candidate's answers.

11 students were shortlisted for the HR Round, which lasted about 25 minutes. The interviewer was friendly and asked for a quick introduction, how the day was, previous interview experiences, reasons for rejections, and if Siemens interviews were more difficult. Personal questions about interests, parents' occupations, and reasons for choosing computer engineering were posed. Additionally, the candidate was asked to explain what a pandemic is to someone hearing it for the first time and discuss the government's lockdown decisions. The final result for this specific candidate was not mentioned.
