Experience:

A final year student shared their virtual interview experience with SRIN (Samsung Research Institute Noida). The company visited their campus in December 2021 for the R&D Engineer role in Noida.

Round 1 (Coding Test): This round was held on the Cocubes platform and consisted of 3 Data Structures & Algorithms questions, carrying 3, 5, and 5 marks respectively. The questions included "Identical Trees," "Two Sum," and "Reverse a Linked List in groups of given size (specifically, size 2, midpoint)." The test duration was 70 minutes, emphasizing speed; the candidate managed to solve all questions in 30 minutes. Out of 39 students who took the exam, 19 were shortlisted.

Round 2 (Technical Round): The interviewer began with a self-introduction, followed by asking the candidate to introduce themselves. The discussion then moved to projects listed on the candidate's resume, with the interviewer thoroughly questioning (grilling for 30 minutes) the functionality, implementation details, and choices of tech-stack. Subsequently, questions on Operating Systems were asked, such as the difference between "process and threads" and "multithreading." The "Hourglasses Puzzle" was also presented. Finally, a coding question was given: "You are given an odd length char array consisting of abababa.... type, Calculate Total no. of palindromes." The candidate devised a basic formula to solve this.
