The interview for the Graphics RnD profile at Sony Japan was a single, 45-minute session fragmented into two parts: Technical and HR.
The HR started the conversation for the first 5 minutes to break the ice. The next 30 minutes were dedicated to the technical discussion, where team members asked about the candidate's projects and interests. The candidate had applied for a Graphics RnD profile and explained two graphics-related projects. The interviewers, including the Sony graphics team lead, cross-questioned the candidate extensively on these projects, asking about possible future work and ideas to overcome current implementation issues. Additionally, one or two simple questions related to the profile were asked.
For the last 10 minutes, HR took over again. Questions included: "Describe yourself," "Why do you want to join Sony," and "Why Japan." There were also some "odd questions" such as "Are you Vegetarian or Non Vegetarian?" and "Is your family comfortable with you moving to Japan?" The interview concluded with the HR asking if the candidate had any questions. The candidate was later notified of their selection.
