Societe Generale visited the college for an SDE profile, with around 394 applicants.
Round 1 (Online Assessment): Conducted on the Hirepro platform, this round consisted of three sections: aptitude, coding, and English. The coding questions were of easy-medium difficulty, similar to LeetCode. Specific problems included: finding the trace of a matrix, converting a string based on a given rule, and the assembly line scheduling problem.
Round 2 (Technical Interview): The interviewer asked for an introduction and then discussed the LRU cache, asking the candidate to explain an approach to implement it. The candidate suggested using a doubly linked list and a hashmap, which satisfied the interviewer, and no coding was required. Further questions included finding the median of two sorted arrays of size 10^5, for which the candidate provided brute, better, and optimal solutions. Projects on web development and blockchain were also discussed, with specific questions on feature implementation. The interviewer was impressed and immediately linked the candidate for the next round.
Round 3 (Technical + Managerial Round): This round focused on a machine learning project, its premise, models used, and industrial significance. The interviewer also asked about facing conflicts in a team environment and how they were handled. The candidate also inquired about the work culture.
Round 4 (HR Round): This round involved common HR questions related to strengths/weaknesses, motivation to join Societe Generale, and reasons for pursuing a coding/software role if from a non-CS background.
