The candidate had an interview process for an LMTS position at Salesforce.
Round 1: HackerRank Online Test
Lasted approximately 1.5 hours and had 2 questions of medium to hard difficulty (LeetCode medium level). One question was on strings, and the other was on arrays. The candidate cleared this round.
Round 2: Problem Solving Round
Started with 10 minutes of introduction and discussion about the current project. This round was described as a "rapid-fire" DSA round, where the interviewer asked to solve as many problems as possible. The candidate solved 3 medium-difficulty coding problems in 40 minutes, including running them with test cases on HackerRank.
Round 3: Problem Solving Round
The interviewer asked one LeetCode hard question, which the candidate could not solve properly but solved a variation. The interviewer emphasized looking at the thought process over the correct solution. Another LeetCode medium/hard question was asked, which the candidate coded successfully.
Round 4: Design Round
An architect grilled the candidate on their current project's architecture, asking about decisions and alternative designs. This was considered the toughest round, focusing on a 360-degree check of the project's architecture. After 30 minutes, a design problem related to a type-ahead suggestion system was given. The candidate felt they could not give a fully satisfactory answer.
Round 5: Hiring Manager (HM) Round
The HM was humble and asked about the candidate's current project. A design problem for a product their team was working on was given. The candidate designed it, focusing on the thought process rather than a production-grade solution, which seemed to impress the HM.
Approximately one month later, the candidate received an offer from Salesforce.
