Online Assessment: Received an invite from HackerRank a few days after applying. The OA had 4 questions covering topics like Binary Search, Greedy, DP, Graphs, and Segment Trees, often combining 2-3 topics per question. The difficulty was equivalent to Codeforces 1700-2000 rated problems. The candidate solved 2 questions completely and partially solved the other two (10/15 and 7/15 test cases).
Technical Interview I: The interview was scheduled for one hour. The interviewer asked a standard Geometry and Hashing problem, similar to a LeetCode problem. The candidate solved it first by brute force and then optimized it using hashmaps, answering multiple follow-up questions.
Technical Interview II: This was a System Design (Low-level design) round. The interviewer asked to design a Workday-like HR system covering most functionalities. The candidate chose C++ but realized it was a mistake for this type of design problem. They managed to solve the question, but the code broke during runtime, and debugging took some time. The interviewer praised debugging skills but suggested Java would have been better for the round.
Hiring Manager Round: This final round involved questions about past work, its impact, system design of previous projects, alternative approaches, coding journey, basic HR questions, and academic life.
