This candidate, a 2025 passout from a low-tier NIT with 6 months of internship experience, applied directly on the ServiceNow Careers Page for an Associate MLE role.
Round 1: Technical Interview (60 mins): The interviewer asked several coding questions. These included "Find Repeating Number in Array" with a follow-up "Find Missing Number in Array," and "LinkedList Cycle Detection" with a follow-up on finding the starting point of the cycle and its mathematical proof/intuition. The candidate answered all optimally, leaving time for a "Medium Graphs Question," which was also answered and coded. The feedback was "Super positive."
Round 2: Technical Interview (60 mins): This round began with an introduction and discussion of the candidate's experience and resume, noting their LeetCode stats. A medium Dynamic Programming question similar to "Coin Change" was given, with four follow-up variations. The candidate explained the approach and coded the first variation, discussing approaches for the others as time ran out. The interviewer noted a desire to test on design but time was insufficient. Feedback indicated "Strong on Algorithms" but advised improving "Communication skills."
Round 3: HM (Hiring Manager) + Technical + DSA + Culturefit (45 mins): This round involved questions about experience, projects, and a deep dive into the resume. Few managerial questions were asked, along with some on high-level design and ML. Feedback was "Strong Technical" but again advised improving "communication skills." Despite clearing the technical rounds, the candidate was informed by HR that the position had been filled, resulting in rejection.
