Gaurang Jaju, an M.Tech student from the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay, shared his interview experience for the R&D Engineer role at Sedemac. The interview process was conducted online.
Round 1 (Screening): This was a short round, lasting about 10-15 minutes. The interviewers asked four to five "technical puzzles" that could be solved on the spot or within a few minutes. This round seemed to be a screening to assess quick problem-solving abilities. An example mentioned was a question on the combination of RNC circuits.
Round 2 (Technical & Resume Discussion): Candidates shortlisted from the first round proceeded to this round. This round involved more detailed and advanced technical questions compared to the first round. Following the technical questions, the discussion shifted to the candidate's resume.
The interviewer, who had experience in the same domain, inquired in detail about the candidate's M.Tech project on "State estimation for the Battery Management System of Electric Vehicles." Questions were also asked about other projects and seminars mentioned on the resume, such as core seminars on micro grids.
Overall Experience: The interview process was unique, starting with technical puzzles for screening and then moving to in-depth technical discussions and project-based questions. The online format made the candidate feel somewhat more comfortable. The candidate was successfully placed as an R&D Engineer.
