The process began with resume shortlisting, where approximately 200 students applied using a company-provided format, and around 95 were shortlisted. The Online Assessment Test was conducted on the HirePro platform and included questions on case studies, data interpretation, statistics, probability, and logical reasoning. There were 5 questions from each section, with 1 mark for a correct answer and -0.25 for a wrong one. After this, about 15 students were shortlisted for interviews.
Round 1: The interview started with an introduction, followed by questions about college life and HR questions like "Why do you want to join Bain?" and "Why do you want to shift from software to consulting?". The interviewer then presented a case study to analyze why a company's profits were declining, requiring an assessment of revenue and operational costs. This round lasted 25-30 minutes.
Round 2: This round also began with an introduction. The interviewer asked the candidate to rate themselves in Python and SQL on a scale of 10. Basic questions on both Python and SQL followed, which the candidate found easy to answer. Subsequently, a case study was given with a table, and the candidate had to answer 7-8 questions based on calculations from the table. The final result was positive, with 4 students selected, including the candidate.
General suggestions included communicating well in case studies, strictly adhering to resume guidelines, and practicing reasoning and data interpretation questions.
