This interview process for the Associate Software Developer Engineer L1 role consisted of three rounds.
Round 1: Online Test
This round was conducted on Hackerrank and had two coding questions to be solved in 75 minutes. Both questions were of medium difficulty, based on strings and substrings. The candidate was able to solve both. Out of 135 students, 12 were selected for the next round.
Round 2: Domain Interview
This was an online face-to-face technical round. The interviewer asked the candidate to introduce themselves and then posed a coding question: "We have data of employees of a company and we have to remove the duplicate entries of emails." The candidate solved this using hashing and compiled it successfully. A follow-up to the same question was: "If we have a different programmer and he wants to know the details of top 10 Employees according to their performance marks, how that can be achieved?" The candidate suggested using inherited classes, where a base class stores employee data and two child classes handle duplicate removal and finding top 10 employees. This approach also had to be coded. Questions on OOPs were also asked, including access modifiers, static binding, and dynamic binding.
Round 3: Attribute Interview (HR Round)
The HR round began with an introduction from the HR, followed by questions like: "Do you know what HR do?", "Why Sapient?", "What are your leadership skills?", "How you influence others?", "How would your friends describe you?", "Where do you see yourself in 3-4 years?", and "Dream company?". The candidate also asked for overall feedback. After this round, the HR announced that 2 students were shortlisted, and the candidate was one of them.
