The candidate recently interviewed at Red Hat. The first round was a "semi system design" round, which was described as very easy. This was followed by a managerial round, which was considered a formality.
The final round was a "serious technical round" where a binary tree question was asked. The candidate admitted to not being a regular Leetcoder, with practice limited to Array and String problems, and was unable to solve the binary tree question. However, the candidate progressed significantly in the right direction and verbalized their thought process throughout. After the interview, the candidate sought feedback and was informed that it was a "great interview" and that they had followed all suggestions, such as thinking aloud. The interviewers acknowledged that it was a tough question.
