Rounds: 3 rounds
Topics Asked: LLD, System Design, Current projects, Behavioral questions
The candidate, with 2.5 years of experience as an SDE-2 at a product-based company, was contacted by a recruiter for an SSE role. The process involved three rounds.
Round 1: Machine Coding Round
This round involved the Low-Level Design (LLD) of a survey management service, requiring proper working code in Java on a local IntelliJ IDE, including manual test cases. A second task was to design and implement an in-memory search engine for a tech blog. Requirements included creating categories, inserting and deleting documents, searching for patterns (normal, frequency-based), and ordering search results (by creation/update time).
Round 2: High Level System Design Round
The task was to build a subscriptions platform on top of the Razorpay payment system. This involved designing a product that enables recurring money collection for different plans (e.g., weekly, monthly) for a service like Curefit. The candidate had to consider the flow of a credit card transaction and how a subscription product would integrate for recurring charges.
Round 3: Hiring Manager Round
This round involved a deep dive into the candidate's current project, brainstorming existing system flaws, and how they would redesign it. The second half of the interview primarily focused on behavioral questions.
The candidate received a positive final verdict and was selected.
