Razorpay visited the candidate's college for an SDE role. The interview process consisted of three rounds.
Round 1: Online Assessment (1 hr 30 min)
This round included 15 MCQs from OS, DBMS, OOPS, DSA, and 3 coding questions. MCQs had varying weightage (+2, +4, +6), and coding questions were worth +20, +50, and +50 points. All coding problems were presented in story format. One coding question involved an array and queries, e.g., {1,2} meaning iterate forward by two indexes. For some friends, puzzles were also asked in this round.
Round 2: Technical Round
12 students were selected for this round, which was conducted by a Senior Software Engineer. The interviewer asked the candidate to explain an approach to a problem, starting with brute force and then optimizing it. The candidate was asked to write and run the code on an online IDE with sample test cases, explain the code, and its time complexity. The interviewer was friendly.
Round 3: Managerial Round
11 students advanced to this round, taken by a Senior Engineering Manager. The manager first explained Razorpay's work. She asked about the candidate's first round experience and then for an introduction. Questions were posed about why someone from a different branch wanted to join the software domain. A system design problem was given: design a UPI transaction system. Further questions covered OS, CN, and DBMS (transaction, locks, tunneling, etc.). The interviewer was very friendly.
The results were announced the same day, and 3 students were selected, including the candidate. The candidate mentioned practicing coding questions regularly from GeeksforGeeks and LeetCode.
