This was an on-campus interview experience for a Software Engineer role at PharmEasy in July 2025. The candidate was the only one selected.
Round 1 – Resume Shortlisting: Out of 166 resumes, 29 were shortlisted.
Round 2 – Written Technical Test: This was a 30-minute test with 5 questions: 3 objective and 2 coding questions. Question 1: A Python code snippet was given, and mistakes had to be found. Question 2: "There are n bulbs that are initially off. You first turn on all the bulbs. Then, you turn off every second bulb. On the third round, you toggle every third bulb (turning on if it's off or turning off if it's on)." After this round, 13 students were shortlisted.
Round 3 – Technical Interview 1 (Duration: 90 minutes): This round was with the CTO of PharmEasy. It started with a detailed discussion on the candidate's resume and projects, including a Google Summer of Code project. Coding Question 1: "Implement an autocomplete feature for a search bar," similar to Google's "Did you mean" feature. The interviewer was friendly and provided hints. The candidate initially struggled but was told the solution involved a Suffix Tree. Coding Question 2: Not explicitly mentioned, but after the first question, discussions moved to hashing concepts, collision handling, and implementation. The candidate also asked many questions about the company to show passion.
Round 4 – Technical Interview 2 (Duration: 30 minutes): The interviewer was impressed by the candidate's resume. This round included 2 puzzles and 2 coding questions, followed by more resume discussion. One system design question was asked: "How to design a TinyURL or URL shortener." The candidate was able to provide a 90% complete solution with hints. Finally, the candidate asked questions about the company.
